I have a problem connecting Yahoo Messenger 9.0 to the network?

I recently installed Yahoo Messenger 9.0 to my computer. I keep getting a message that says Messenger encountered a network problem, please try again. So what do I do. I tried to change proxy settings and nothing works. So here is some more info: a) McAfee Internet security program b) browser - Mozilla Firefox 3.5 c) wireless hotspot connection (using wireless USB 2.0 adapter). Please send me step by step instructions on how to resolve this issue, before I throw this computer out the window. Thanks.I have a problem connecting Yahoo Messenger 9.0 to the network? You may have to re-install to crack this one but before you do try this

Make sure your browser is set to default - even if you only have one

Download ccleaner and give it a couple of runs include 'registry' from left hand toolbar. Do not be alarmed by the amount of files you have to delete - especially if you do not clean out your browser on a daily basis.

Set your status to %26quot;offline%26quot; in yahoo MAIL by using the dropbox next to your name. This will allow you to have mail and messenger open at the same time.

Shut down your computer

Power down your router for one minute

Power up and re-start your computer

Keep ccleaner for regular maintenance of your browser

Below is extract from Messenger Help

No luck? re-install

Be aware that some enhancing programs have been reported as having conflicts with Yahoo -Speedbit video accelerator - WindowBlinds - AlienGuise- I would recommend uninstalling these until Messenger is running well and then re-install them if you wish.

When downloading/uploading close all other programs.

Run ccleaner

Save your Profile folder (Archives) to a flash drive or CD

Download revo uninstaller and uninstall Yahoo- this will use the Yahoo uninstall program to remove Messenger. In addition, by using the 'advanced' mode it will scan the C drive and registry for any old software remaining. Uninstall everything it finds
