Need urgent help with mac airport LAN settings?

I go to boarding school and recently the wireless network in the boarding house has changed. All the girls have Windows laptops bar myself and another girl.

We have been given steps as how to sort out our laptops for the new wireless, but they are steps for Windows. It says to go into 'Internet Options' (I went to Safari %26gt; Preferences), then go to %26quot;LAN settings%26quot;, then to tick the proxy server connections and input an address and port, then click ok.

The furthest I got was Safari %26gt; Preferences %26gt; Advanced %26gt; Proxies: Change Settings...

Need help because there is not way in hell the school IT staff who set up this wireless will have any idea how to sort it out on a mac.Need urgent help with mac airport LAN settings?to change your network settings on a mac you want to go to system preferences (you can get to that by going to the apple icon in the top left). Then go to the network panel. Depending on your mac OS version this panel can look a bit different. On the latest version you will have a list of items on the left. You probably want to choose airport/wireless. Then you can modify the settings by using the tabs.
