My messenger says it is connecting but never does?

I have tried changing the proxies settings. I have unistalled it and reinstalled it. It workrd last week. If I am behind a firewall How do I know which one to turn off and how do I turn it offMy messenger says it is connecting but never does?Click the %26quot;Messenger%26quot; menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select %26quot;Connection Preferences.%26quot;

Enable the %26quot;Firewall with no proxies%26quot; option.

Select the correct Internet connection type and country from the pull-down menus.

Click the %26quot;OK%26quot; button at the bottom of the window.

Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in again with your new proxy settings. Click the %26quot;OK%26quot; button.

Enter your ID and password and click the %26quot;Sign In%26quot; button.

The above configuration works in most situations. (However, if you connect in this way, you won't be able to use the Voice feature.) If this configuration doesn't work, follow these steps:

Click the %26quot;Messenger%26quot; menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select %26quot;Connection Preferences.%26quot;

Enable the %26quot;No network detection%26quot; option and then click the %26quot;OK%26quot; button at the bottom of the window.

Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in again with your new proxy settings. Click the %26quot;OK%26quot; button.

Enter your ID and password and click the %26quot;Sign In%26quot; button.

If none of the above options work, you're probably behind a firewall or proxy server that requires you to enter its address. Follow these steps:

Click the %26quot;Messenger%26quot; menu in Yahoo! Messenger and select %26quot;Connection Preferences.%26quot;

Enable the %26quot;Use proxies%26quot; option.

Enter your firewall and/or proxy server's address and port number. Contact your network administrator (if you're at work), or your Internet service provider (if you're at home) to determine the correct firewall and proxy settings.

Click the %26quot;OK%26quot; button at the bottom of the window.

Yahoo! Messenger will ask you if you want to sign in with your new proxy settings. Click the %26quot;OK%26quot; button.

Enter your ID and password and click the %26quot;Sign In%26quot; button.

If you try all of the steps above and Yahoo! Messenger still can't connect, contact your network administrator, ISP (Internet Service Provider), or the person who initially set up your computer to ensure that your firewall and/or proxy settings are correct.
